Villanova Defeats St. John's 75-69 - Recap
Villanova grabbed a 75-69 win over St. John's on Tuesday, behind a 17-point effort from Brandon Slater at Madison Square Garden.
Villanova did not, however, defeat St. John's against the spread, which closed at -6.5 at most sportsbooks.
Eric Dixon had 16 points for Villanova and Justin Moore chipped in with 14 points. Brandon Slater had 3 assists for them, while Collin Gillespie was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 10 boards.
St. John's got a 31-point performance from Aaron Wheeler, who was supported by 12 points from Julian Champagnie. Dylan Addae-Wusu had 5 assists in a losing cause for St. John's, while Dylan Addae-Wusu grabbed 11 rebounds.
Villanova led at halftime, 34-29.
Villanova had a 43-39 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
Next game, Villanova takes its act home to face Seton Hall looking for another win. For St. John's, they head home to face Connecticut.
