Diamond Head Classic - Liberty Flames vs BYU Cougars Wrap - BYU Wins 80-75
BYU grabbed a 80-75 win over Liberty on Saturday, behind a 19-point effort from Fousseyni Traore at SimpliFI Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
BYU did not, however, defeat Liberty against the spread, which closed at -6.5 at most sportsbooks.
Trevin Knell had 15 points for BYU and Te'Jon Lucas chipped in with 11 points. Te'Jon Lucas had 7 assists for them, while Fousseyni Traore was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 13 boards.
Liberty got a 29-point performance from Darius McGhee, who was supported by 11 points from Shiloh Robinson. Darius McGhee had 5 assists in a losing cause for Liberty, while Keegan McDowell grabbed 8 rebounds.
BYU won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 32-21.
BYU looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Westminster College-Utah. Liberty will aim to get back on the winning track vs. Boyce College.
