Recap - Iona Defeats Fairfield 75-69
Iona grabbed a 75-69 win over Fairfield on Friday, behind a 17-point effort from Nelly Junior Joseph at Hynes Athletics Center.
Iona did not, however, defeat Fairfield against the spread, which closed at -17.5 at most sportsbooks.
Iona got 16 points from Daniss Jenkins and another 12 points from Anton Brookshire. Osborn Shema contributed 6 assists, while Nelly Junior Joseph cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.
Fairfield got 18 points from TJ Long in a losing cause and another 16 points from Jake Wojcik. Jake Wojcik contributed 7 assists for them, while Allan Jeanne-Rose had 8 rebounds.
Iona was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Fairfield had a 31-27 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
Next game, Iona takes its act home to face Rider looking for another win. For Fairfield, they head on the road to face Saint Peter's.
