American got 17 points from Elijah Stephens and another 14 points from Geoff Sprouse. Lorenzo Donadio contributed 4 assists, while Lincoln Ball cleaned the glass with 9 rebounds.
Colgate got a 20-point performance from Ryan Moffatt, who was supported by 10 points from Jeff Woodward. Jalen Cox had 5 assists in a losing cause for Colgate, while Keegan Records grabbed 7 rebounds.
American was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
American won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 29-26.
