Cougars Fall 33-30 Against Texas Tech - Game Recap

Donovan Smith threw for 351 yards to lead the Red Raiders over Houston 33-30 on Saturday in Week 2 action at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Texas Tech did not, however, defeat the Cougars against the spread, which closed at -3.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 62.5.

Donovan Smith completed 36 of 58 pass attempts for 351 yards for the Red Raiders in the win.

Brandon Campbell rushed for 80 yards for Houston, while Stacy Sneed added 9 yards. Clayton Tune threw for 266 yards for the Cougars, while receivers Nathaniel Dell and Brandon Campbell had 120 and 54 yards respectively.

Texas Tech outgained Houston 468-354 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 35-15 by the Red Raiders.

The time of possession battle favored Texas Tech as their offense was on the field for 37:18, longer than the 19:41 of their opponents.

Texas Tech heads into a Week 3 battle against NC State. Houston, meanwhile, will have their next action against Kansas.
