East Carolina Defeats BYU 27-24 - Recap

Keaton Mitchell tore up the turf for 176 rushing yards on Friday to lead the Pirates to a 27-24 win over the Cougars at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

The Pirates were a +3.0-point underdog in the win, and managed to turn a profit for their supporters. The combined score dipped UNDER the total, which closed at 64.5.

Keaton Mitchell rushed for 176 yards, while Marlon Gunn Jr. added 42 yards in the win. Isaiah Winstead and Jsi Hatfield added 63 and 60 receiving yards respectively.

Lopini Katoa rushed for 116 yards for BYU, while Jaren Hall added 60 yards. Jaren Hall threw for 144 yards for the Cougars, while receivers Puka Nacua and Brayden Cosper had 79 and 37 yards respectively.

BYU was outgained by East Carolina 424-388 yards in Friday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 22-20 by the Cougars.

East Carolina lost the time of possession battle 33:56-26:04, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, East Carolina takes its act on the road to face Cincinnati looking for another win. For BYU, they head on the road to face Boise State.
