Memphis Tigers vs East Carolina Pirates Wrap - East Carolina Wins 47-45

Holton Ahlers's 304-yard performance through the air was the key in East Carolina's 47-45 win over Memphis on Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

East Carolina won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -5.5-point spread. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 62.5.

Holton Ahlers completed 26 of 34 pass attempts for 304 yards for the Pirates in the win.

Asa Martin rushed for 59 yards for Memphis, while Jevyon Ducker added 18 yards. Seth Henigan threw for 407 yards for the Tigers, while receivers Joseph Scates and Caden Prieskorn had 112 and 104 yards respectively.

East Carolina lost the offensive yardage battle to Memphis 491-473 yards in Saturday's game. East Carolina had more first downs as that total ended up 25-24.

Memphis lost the time of possession battle 32:09-24:27, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

East Carolina heads into a Week 8 battle against UCF. Memphis, meanwhile, will have their next action against Tulane.
