Duke Defeats Clemson 28-7 - Recap
The battle between the Blue Devils and Tigers didn't turn out to be much of a battle at all as Clemson was handed a 28-7 defeat on Monday at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Bettors who backed the Blue Devils were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as an underdog of +11.5 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 54.5.
Riley Leonard rushed for 98 yards, while Jordan Waters added 63 yards in the win. Jordan Waters and Jalon Calhoun added 46 and 32 receiving yards respectively.
Will Shipley rushed for 114 yards for Clemson, while Phil Mafah added 65 yards. Cade Klubnik threw for 209 yards for the Tigers, while receivers Antonio Williams and Beaux Collins had 56 and 50 yards respectively.
Duke was outgained by Clemson 422-374 yards in Monday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 29-17 by the Tigers.
Duke lost the time of possession battle 33:33-26:27, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Duke takes its act home to face Lafayette looking for another win. For Clemson, they head home to face Charleston Southern.
