East Carolina Falls 24-17 to Owls - Recap
The Pirates came up short against the Owls in Week 5 action on Saturday, falling 24-17 at Rice Stadium.
Rice was a favorite by -3.5 points and came through with an ATS victory for bettors. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 46.5.
Chase Jenkins rushed for 27 yards, while Juma Otoviano added 11 yards in the win. Landon Ransom-Goelz and Rawson MacNeill added 54 and 51 receiving yards respectively.
Javious Bond rushed for 72 yards for East Carolina, while Rahjai Harris added 46 yards. Alex Flinn threw for 246 yards for the Pirates, while receivers Chase Sowell and Jsi Hatfield had 88 and 74 yards respectively.
Rice was outgained by East Carolina 391-277 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 25-14 by the Pirates.
Rice lost the time of possession battle 34:58-25:02, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
