Eastern Michigan Falls 26-23 to Chippewas - Recap

The Chippewas were Week 5 winners on Saturday, coming out on top of the Eagles by a score of 26-23 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

The Chippewas won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -10.5-point spread. OVER bettors were rewarded when the final score pointed to an OVER play.

Austin Smith rushed for 71 yards for Eastern Michigan, while Jaylon Jackson added 62 yards. Austin Smith threw for 186 yards for the Eagles, while receivers Tanner Knue and JB Mitchell III had 68 and 48 yards respectively.

Central Michigan outgained Eastern Michigan 411-341 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 24-21 by the Chippewas.

The time of possession battle favored Eastern Michigan as their offense was on the field for 34:26, longer than the 25:34 of their opponents.

Central Michigan heads into a Week 6 battle against Buffalo. Eastern Michigan, meanwhile, will have their next action against Ball State.
