James Butler scored 22 points and added 15 rebounds for a double-double, leading Drexel over Niagara, 72-64, on Friday at John A Daskalakis Center.
Drexel earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -9.5-point spread.
Mate Okros had 11 points for Drexel and T.J. Bickerstaff chipped in with 10 points. Camren Wynter had 9 assists for them, while James Butler was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 15 boards.
Niagara got 17 points from James Towns in a losing cause and another 12 points from Raheem Solomon. Shandon Brown contributed 4 assists for them, while Marcus Hammond had 7 rebounds.
Drexel won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 33-22.
Drexel heads into a battle against Abilene Christian. Niagara, meanwhile, will have their next action against Rutgers.
