The Citadel Falls 88-52 to Mercer - Recap
The battle between Mercer and The Citadel didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as The Citadel was handed a 88-52 defeat on Monday at Hawkins Arena.
Bettors who backed Mercer were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -8.5 at sportsbooks.
Mercer got 17 points from Felipe Haase and another 14 points from James Glisson III. Jeff Gary contributed 4 assists, while Felipe Haase cleaned the glass with 10 rebounds.
The Citadel got a 10-point performance from Rudy Fitzgibbons III, who was supported by 10 points from Kaiden Rice. Stephen Clark had 2 assists in a losing cause for The Citadel, while Derek Webster Jr. grabbed 7 rebounds.
Mercer was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Mercer won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 45-28.
Next game, Mercer takes its act home to face Chattanooga looking for another win. For The Citadel, they head on the road to face Furman.
