New Mexico State Falls 79-58 to Sam Houston State - Recap

The battle between Sam Houston State and New Mexico State didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as New Mexico State was handed a 79-58 defeat on Thursday at Pan American Center.

Sam Houston State won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -1.5-point spread as favorites.

Lamar Wilkerson had 25 points for Sam Houston State and Marcus Boykin chipped in with 13 points. Jaden Ray had 8 assists for them, while Kian Scroggins was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 8 boards.

New Mexico State got a 15-point performance from Kaosi Ezeagu, who was supported by 14 points from Christian Cook. Femi Odukale had 4 assists in a losing cause for New Mexico State, while Kaosi Ezeagu grabbed 7 rebounds.

Sam Houston State led at halftime, 48-24.

Sam Houston State won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 37-21.

Next game, Sam Houston State takes its act on the road to face UTEP looking for another win. For New Mexico State, they head home to face Louisiana Tech.
