Appalachian State Mountaineers vs Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs Wrap - Appalachian State Wins 80-59
The battle between Appalachian State and Gardner-Webb didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Gardner-Webb was handed a 80-59 defeat on Saturday at Greensboro Coliseum.
Tre'Von Spillers had 16 points for Appalachian State and Terence Harcum chipped in with 12 points. Donovan Gregory had 5 assists for them, while CJ Huntley was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 8 boards.
Gardner-Webb got a 18-point performance from Caleb Robinson, who was supported by 12 points from DQ Nicholas. Julien Soumaoro had 2 assists in a losing cause for Gardner-Webb, while Lucas Stieber grabbed 9 rebounds.
Appalachian State was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Gardner-Webb won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 39-35.
Next game, Appalachian State takes its act home to face UNC Asheville looking for another win. For Gardner-Webb, they head on the road to face Chattanooga.
