UTEP Defeats Stephen F. Austin 24-14 - Recap
Deion Hankins tore up the turf for 113 rushing yards on Saturday to lead the Miners to a 24-14 win over the Lumberjacks at Sun Bowl.
Bettors who backed the Miners were also rewarded, as they covered the closing number as a favorite of -4.0 at sportsbooks. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 54.0.
Deion Hankins rushed for 113 yards, while Joshua Fields added 25 yards in the win. Jacob Cowing and Justin Garrett added 116 and 52 receiving yards respectively.
Da'Leon Ward rushed for 51 yards for Stephen F. Austin, while Josh McGowen added 39 yards. Trae Self threw for 133 yards for the Lumberjacks, while receivers Quentyvian Borders and Xavier Gipson had 41 and 29 yards respectively.
Stephen F. Austin lost the offensive yardage battle to UTEP 364-230 yards in Saturday's game. UTEP had more first downs as that total ended up 19-14.
The time of possession battle favored UTEP as their offense was on the field for 36:47, longer than the 23:13 of their opponents.
UTEP heads into a Week 2 battle against Texas. Stephen F. Austin, meanwhile, will have their next action against UTSA.
