East Carolina Falls 21-20 to Wolfpack - Recap
The Pirates came up short against the Wolfpack in Week 1 action on Saturday, falling 21-20 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
The Wolfpack won the battle on the scoreboard, but not at the payout window as they failed to cover the -12.5-point spread. UNDER bettors were rewarded when the final score pointed to an UNDER play.
Demie Sumo-Karngbaye rushed for 79 yards, while Jordan Houston added 55 yards in the win. Thayer Thomas and Devin Carter added 58 and 32 receiving yards respectively.
Holton Ahlers rushed for 48 yards for East Carolina, while Keaton Mitchell added 29 yards. Holton Ahlers threw for 274 yards for the Pirates, while receivers C.J. Johnson and Isaiah Winstead had 90 and 53 yards respectively.
NC State lost the offensive yardage battle to East Carolina 383-344 yards in Saturday's game. NC State had more first downs as that total ended up 18-17.
East Carolina led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 32:18-27:42 split in that important category.
Next game, NC State takes its act home to face Charleston Southern looking for another win. For East Carolina, they head home to face Old Dominion.
