North Texas Defeats Rice 21-17 - Recap
North Texas got a 122-yard performance from Ikaika Ragsdale as a key part of its 21-17 victory over the Owls on Saturday at Apogee Stadium.
North Texas did not, however, defeat the Owls against the spread, which closed at -14.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 57.5.
Ikaika Ragsdale rushed for 122 yards, while Isaiah Johnson added 42 yards in the win. Ikaika Ragsdale and Jyaire Shorter added 59 and 45 receiving yards respectively.
Juma Otoviano rushed for 94 yards for Rice, while Cameron Montgomery added 49 yards. AJ Padgett threw for 229 yards for the Owls, while receivers Braylen Walker and Isaiah Esdale had 77 and 69 yards respectively.
North Texas was outgained by Rice 415-362 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 19-16 by the Owls.
Rice led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 35:42-24:17 split in that important category.
