Zips Fall 24-21 Against Temple - Game Recap
The Owls were Week 1 winners on Saturday, coming out on top of the Zips by a score of 24-21 at Lincoln Financial Field.
Temple won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -9.5-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 55.0.
Darvon Hubbard rushed for 35 yards, while Edward Saydee added 18 yards in the win. Dante Wright and Amad Anderson Jr. added 71 and 65 receiving yards respectively.
Drake Anderson rushed for 40 yards for Akron, while Lorenzo Lingard added 24 yards. DJ Irons threw for 205 yards for the Zips, while receivers Lorenzo Lingard and Daniel George had 77 and 60 yards respectively.
Temple outgained Akron 353-279 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 20-13 by the Owls.
Temple lost the time of possession battle 30:25-29:35, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Next game, Temple takes its act on the road to face Rutgers looking for another win. For Akron, they head home to face Morgan State.
