WKU Defeats Sam Houston State 28-23 - Recap

WKU's aerial attack produced 392 yards and the Hilltoppers produced a 28-23 victory over Sam Houston State on Saturday at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.

WKU won on the scoreboard, but lost at the pay window as they failed to cover the -10.0-point spread. The game went UNDER the consensus closing total of 52.5.

Austin Reed completed 28 of 41 pass attempts for 392 yards for the Hilltoppers in the win.

John Gentry rushed for 41 yards for Sam Houston State, while Keegan Shoemaker added 34 yards. Keegan Shoemaker threw for 271 yards for the Bearkats, while receivers Noah Smith and John Gentry had 115 and 68 yards respectively.

Sam Houston State was outgained by WKU 465-357 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 21-18 by the Hilltoppers.

WKU led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 30:17-29:43 split in that important category.

Next game, WKU takes its act on the road to face FIU looking for another win. For Sam Houston State, they head home to face Middle Tennessee.
